Define Your Core Purpose in Life Defining your life's core purpose is one of the most important and beneficial steps you can take toward success in life, love, and prosperity. As you define your core purpose, allow room for change. Change will happen in life, it is best to be prepared. 1. Focus your time and energy on what you do want. Once you know your life's purpose, think about and write out those things you do want that will align you with your purpose. For example, instead of proclaiming you want to quit being lazy, change to a more positive light and proclaim you want to become more active. 2. Think of new habits as new paths for energy to flow. The more you travel certain paths, the easier the travel becomes. The more frequent the travel, the better chances you have for successfully embedding the change in your life 3. New habits require 30-60 days of positive reinforcement Most new habits need 30-60 days of reinforcement. It's important that you practice new habits with constant and precise repetition. Exercise at the same time each day for example. 4. Train Your Inner Voice Controlling the tone and content of your self talk represents a critical factor in successful change. Changes in behavior require changes in thinking. Once you decide you will change to adopt positive habits, accept that your thoughts must change to become positive and supportive of your new habit. The best way to train your inner voice is to write out, word for word, a script for your inner voice to follow. 5. Allow your inner voice to become your ultimate coach. Follow the script with your inner voice whenever and wherever temptation strikes. Read your new story as often as possible reinforce with energy and emotion. Re-write your new story from scratch 3 or 4 times a day for the first 90 day period. Your new story should connect the change to a strong sense of purpose and should inspire you to forge ahead. 6. Keep a daily record of your efforts. Remember, you are building new habits. Some are behavioral and some are cognitive. Keeping a daily record of your efforts will help encourage you to stick with your journey and show you areas that may need improvement.
