Can A Diet Tea Be Harmful?

If you are wondering if a diet tea can be harmful, you must have read some warnings about them. Here are some facts about diet teas.

Most Commercial Diet Teas are Harmful to Your Health

There are many websites that share information about the teas, and people have written about the effects of the teas. A common effect is diarrhea. Another effect of a harmful diet tea is increasing the metabolism to the point of nervousness or heart palpitations. Some diet teas suppress the appetite, while others speed up the metabolism. Some diet teas are diuretics, thus you lose a great deal of water weight, but can become quite dehydrated.

Commercial Diet Teas are Harmful to Your Wallet

The majority of diet teas on the market are financial scams, where you spend an inordinate amount of money to buy something that either will make you ill, taste terrible, or cost more than it should. Even so-called ‘free trials’ turn into a nightmare if you don’t read the fine print. Stay away from commercial diet teas for goodness sake.

Oolong Tea

A normal use of oolong tea, which is a lovely, easy to buy Chinese tea, can sometimes be useful in weight control. There are few random tests that seem to indicate it, but not a large amount of evidence. However, as will all teas, the key ingredient is the fact that because of the caffeine (although smaller than coffee), your metabolism is increased, thus burning off some calories. Also, most teas tend to be a bit diuretic, resulting in losing a bit more water, unless you stay hydrated. However, with moderate use, oolong tea can be quite good and healthy for you. A lovely tasting oolong tea is Ti Kuan Yin, named after the goddess of compassion, Kuan Yin. It varies in quality and price, but you can get some reasonable versions that are good for every day drinking.

Green Tea

Green tea is not as widely known for use in weight loss or as a diet tea, however, overall it is a healthy tea to enjoy. It also has some caffeine so it will have an effect on your metabolism. It also has a good effect on your overall health, and has anti-oxidents. If you are just interested in a nice cup of tea, then a green tea is fine. If you are looking for a diet tea, that is a tea that will support your weight loss, probably an oolong would be a better choice. Remember that both can keep you up at night, so use them in the morning, to avoid a sleepless night due to caffeine sensitivity.
