Preparing Tasty Diet Meals

Losing weight is hard enough, but eating things that you really don’t like will make it even harder. There are some simple rules you can follow that will help you stay on your

Rule 1: Keep Using Spices

No matter what food your diet dictates for your weight loss, it is important to know that spices will not add calories. As a matter of fact, many spices are quite beneficial for weight loss. Although there is not a lot of factual documentation for individual spices, the main benefit is that you can eat things that will please your taste buds. If you ever tried asparagus, for example, simply using lemon juice, you’ll see that you’re not missing anything when you cut out the butter. Add some pepper to it, and you have a simple, tasty vegetable that will definitely not put on pounds.

Rule 2: Keep the Food, Cut the Fat

When you are creating a diet meal, you may still want to include your favorite chicken, turkey or meat. The simplest way to make it tasty is to cook it with the fat, but just remove the fat before you eat. All of the seasonings and taste go right into the chicken when you roast it whole, but there is no reason to eat the outside.

Rule 3: Don’t Forget Dessert

When you eat a diet meal that is less filling that you are used to, you deserve a treat. There are so many ways to create a dessert that tastes good but is totally low-cal. One simple idea is to freeze some fresh fruit juice into popsicles, to allay the yearning for ice-cream. Another lightweight dessert that is tasty but guilt free is low-fat yogurt with granola. There are lots of suggestions on the web for low-fat dessert recipes, that take no time to prepare, but satisfy the palate.

Rule 4: Variety is the spice of life

No matter what diet you are on, be sure that you keep changing what you are eating. For example, if you are on a low-carb diet with lots of vegetables, don’t stick with the same vegetables day in and day out. Try new ones each few days. And don’t prepare the same vegetables the same way. You can braise the carrots, steam the carrots, sauté the carrots, or puree the carrots. You can cut carrots by the length, on the slant, in rounds and in chunks. As you can see, each time you make a little change, your diet meal looks like another dish altogether.

Rule 5: Prepare Your Meal with Love

What makes a meal taste great? In the end, what makes it taste like nectar is not the ingredients, but the attitude with which you prepare, and eat, the meal. Losing weight is a statement that you care about yourself enough to make a change. Cooking a diet meal while remembering the goal, allows you to express your own self-love in a tangible way. There’s no way the meal won’t be tasty, with all your heart in it.
